Solis Emotional Support
We’re here to listen.
If you or someone you love has cancer, you may experience a whole host of emotions – such as sadness, anxiety, fear, anger and uncertainty. During this stressful time, many of us tend to neglect our mental health and focus only on the physiological impacts of cancer. However, evidence shows that talking about your feelings and getting the support you need is important for your life and your health.
At Solis Health, we offer timely and thoughtful emotional support to anyone whose life has been touched by cancer. Whether you are experiencing emotional distress or body image issues, coming to terms with changes in your life or want to find ways to have difficult conversations with the people around you, we are here to help. Our experienced therapists are available for individual or group sessions, at our center and online.
We are with you, right through.
Your feelings are welcome.
Yes, every single one of them. When you are told you have cancer, it is natural to experience a whole host of emotions. Feelings of sadness, fear, anxiety, mood swings, and depression are common.
If you experience any of these feelings, don’t be afraid to seek help. Talking about your feelings and getting the support you need is important for your life and your health – just as important as your clinical treatment.
Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, confused, anxious or scared about your cancer treatment and the road ahead, we are here to support you. Our therapists are available for private sessions, or you could opt for group sessions along with your family.
With our emotional support sessions, we hope to offer:
- A warm, safe space to express and explore your feelings and emotions
- Practical advice for coping with a cancer diagnosis and treatment
- An opportunity for you and your loved ones to develop coping strategies together
If we don’t take care of ourselves we will be unable to care effectively for our loved ones.
Finding out that your loved one has been diagnosed with cancer can be extremely distressing and challenging for you to deal with. However, many caregivers put their own needs and feelings aside to focus on the patient.
You may find that you have no time left for yourself. Or that you’re so used to caring for your loved one that you’re unable to focus on anything else. This overwhelm can have both physical and psychological effects on you, and is not a healthy situation for either you or the person you are caring for.
Talking about your feelings and getting the support you need as a caregiver is important too. At Solis Health, we are here to support you through this difficult time.
Our counsellors can speak to you in private, in a group, or with your family. With our emotional support sessions, we hope to offer you:
- A warm, safe space to express and explore your feelings and emotions
- Practical advice for coping with a cancer diagnosis and treatment
- Support and advice on how to talk to others in your life about cancer
- An opportunity for you and your loved ones to develop coping strategies together
